The design features Prince Pyotr Bagration, the commander of the Russian Second Army during Napoleon's invasion of 1812. A Georgian prince, Bagration had a reputation for bravery and was one of the best loved generals in the Russian army. He was mortally wounded during the Battle of Borodino in September 1812.
