Alexander was present at the Battle of Austerlitz, when the Austro-Russian coalition army was defeated in one of Napoleon's greatest victories. He was instrumental in the formation of the Sixth Coalition and the successful campaigns of 1813-1814 resulting in the allies capturing Paris and forcing Napoleon's abdication.
